What is Red Sky Ball?

The award-winning Red Sky Ball was created in 2016 by Sergio and his wife Emma as a one-off fundraising event for the fantastic charity CHUF (Children’s Heart Unit Fund at the Freeman Hospital). The ball quickly grew into an annual fundraising cause and is now supported by a variety of supporting fundraising events such as The White Sky Ball and other fundraising events, all under the Red Sky Ball banner.  The aim of Red Sky Ball is simple, to raise as much money as possible to support CHUF and children’s heart units across the North East.

How is the money spent

Every single penny of profit raised goes directly to CHUF and, with the help of kind sponsors and partners, Red Sky Ball has been able to donate a huge total of £160,000 to date (Jan ’18) to CHUF.
The money from Red Sky Ball is used by the Children’s Heart Unit fund to provide equipment, experiences and facilities to those families whose children may need to use heart units across the North East.  Since it’s launch, Red Sky Ball has been able to purchase a vital trans medic heart transplant machine for the Children’s Heart Unit at Newcastle and Echocardiogram (Echo) machines for Sunderland Royal Infirmary and James Cook Hospital. Red Sky ball founders Emma and Sergio “wanted to make life that little bit more comfortable for families like ours; whether it be providing a parent’s emergency wash bag, gadgets and games, or the essential equipment and machinery needed to save little lives – every penny counts, we could not know that more."

The team behind RSB

Red Sky Ball was the brainchild of Sergio and Emma Petrucci, after they experienced first-hand the help that CHUF is able to offer families when their little girl, Luna, received a life-saving operation at the Children’s Heart Unit.

“Since Luna’s successful recovery, we wanted to do something special to say a huge thank you to the doctors and nurses that cared for us as a family, during what became the most stressful and terrifying time of our lives.  We couldn’t think of a better way than to raise money to help future families who may be feeling the same way we were."

Sergio & Emma rely upon the help of volunteers & corporate partners who give their time or money to help make the events possible,
